Baisakhi Celebrations In Dehradun By United Sikh Federation
Like every time, this time too, on the Festival of Baisakhi, Turban Day was organized in collaboration with the United Sikh Federation and Pacific Mall at Pacific Mall Dehradun. The festival of Baisakhi is celebrated with great enthusiasm in the country and abroad, on this day the farmer harvests his prepared crop after taking care of his crops and celebrates happiness. Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Guru of the Sikhs, founded the Sikh panth on the day of Baisakhi in 1699 and gave a new identity as a Sikh by tasting nectar to five beloved people. By taking the identity of the same Sikh sect to the people and tying the turban/glove on top of the Sikh identity which is in the form of a turban, instilling a sense of Sikh ism in them and realizing the dignity of the turban. With an aim to convey the dignity of the turban, the United Sikh Federation and Pacific Mall organised a grand event in Dehradun from 3 pm to 7 pm and almost all present at the mall by the federation’s volunteers. Around 700 children, young men, young women and the elderly were tied turbans by volunteers at the mall and all the people present there said that by wearing a turban on Baisakhi on Turban Day, they are getting the feeling of king today and are feeling proud of themselves.
On this occasion, Chairman of Doon International School D.S. Mann was the Chief Guest, Social Worker Amarjeet Singh Kukreja and President of United Federation Amarjeet Singh was the Chief Guest. On this occasion, D.S. Mann, while addressing the people present there, apprised the people about the history of Sikhs and explained the importance of turban and at the same time, Amarjeet Singh thanked Pacific Mall and its volunteers for the successful program and assured the people present there that we will continue to organize such events so that people can get a lot of attention.
